The printing and packaging of CD’s and DVD’s

The process of CD replication and DVD replication as well as CD duplication and DVD duplication does go through an intricate process of production. But the process does not end there, it has to also go through a process of printing and packaging before the final product can be put in stores and purchased by consumers.

Printing process
Initially the CD master is produced, that later on goes on to produce a lot of copies. After this replication process is over, the process of printing and packaging then begins with the designing of the artwork that goes onto the DVD or CD. This disc will have images and a list of the songs on its disc face. Every part of the disc will have some sort of imagery or wordings on it, not to forget that it will also have some sort of colour printed as well. Usually the replication process offers a four colour offset print and can also be extended to five if the image requires it and will also depend on the printing method used.

Packaging
The covering used to pack these DVD’s and CD’s are thick plastic covers called amray cases or the smaller more square shaped jewel cases. These plastic covers usually are accompanied with a two panel booklet that is the front cover of the album. This booklet also has printed within it all the names of the songs. There may also be a four or six panel booklet that has the lyrics of the songs printed and some other relevant information.
