Piracy posing a threat to the music and film industry

There have been significant improvements in technology over the last few years. But piracy has caused considerable damage to certain businesses. The music, film, TV and video game industry all make use of CDs and DVDs to sell their products and it is these businesses which have suffered.

Piracy:
As a result of piracy, these industries suffer as their products are copied without their permission and sold at a cheap rate. This results in profits being eaten away and as a result, millions of dollars are lost. The piracy industry uses several techniques in order to copy CDs and DVDs. CD duplication is a very simple technology that allows you to make copies of a CD. The technology at first was very expensive but has become very cheap in recent years. This technology can be very useful as you can back up loads of information very easily on CDs or DVDs.

Replication:
CD and DVD replication, on the other hand, involves the use of technology that makes multiple copies of a single disc. Such technology is used in the production of multiple copies of music CDs and DVDs. Piracy has also grown as a result of unauthorised copies that are made of a CD and sold on the black market
