DVD replication useful for music companies

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

Digital Versatile Disc or as some people wrongly call it Digital Video Disc is more popularly known as DVD. DVDs have the same dimensions as that of a CD, but can store up to 24 times more data than a normal CD. DVD is an optical disc and a popular media storage format.

DVDs can store of up to 17 GB of data. In a DVD you can only write data. No further changes can be made in it after the data is written. A DVD-RW is a rewritable disc. You can write the data in it and, when required, you can also erase and write new data in it.

DVD replication is a process in which the data from a master source DVD is transferred to DVD discs. You should not get confused between duplication and replication as both are completely different. To create a replica of a DVD, the source master is initially checked whether it has any bad sectors or not. Once this is verified, it is then sent to the manufacturing plant. It is very important to check this because if any DVD has bad sectors then one might end up having several defective discs.

DVD replication has many advantages like quality, quantity, accuracy and packaging. DVD replication services are mostly used by music companies as they need to create and release several DVDs of music which are performed by several artists.

Do I Require Duplication Or Replication?

Friday, December 19th, 2008

CD Duplication

Duplication is the process of burning information onto a blank CD-R or DVD-R using automated machines that contain writeable drives similar to the drives on a home computer. The process involves very little set up and therefore turnaround is very fast. This is the fastest and most cost effective solution for orders up to 500 discs.

CD Replication

Replication is the manufacturing process where the discs are produced in a pressing plant with the information already embedded on the CD. The manufacture involves the production of a glass master which is then used to form metal stampers. The information is then stamped/pressed onto the disc during the plastic injection molding process. Set up for pressing is complex and therefore turnaround times are longer.

CD Replication- a gift of advancing technology

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Today, CDs are one of the best mediums for storing enormous quantities of data and information in a cost efficient and effective way. A CD can store up to 700 megabytes of data that can be accessed very easily.

The procedure of making small polycarbonate beads into a compact disc, the same as the original source CD (with similar audio-visual qualities) is called CD replication. For people who have to make a number of printed discs, CD replication is a quick and easy process.

The industry of CD replication is growing at a high pace due to high demands from movie studios, television networks, video game designers, and software developers. In addition to these, advertising departments and agencies are also using CD replication to distribute product promotions, press kits, and various sales materials.

CD replication services can be easily obtained as these services are also available online. CD replication is done by a highly advanced single automatic machine and hence the service providers are able to meet tight deadlines.

Along with CD replication CD packaging is also done by the same service providers making the whole process faster, easier and cheaper and rendering the final product more presentable.

CD replication is gaining more popularity in comparison to CD duplication since CD replication is a cheaper process and offering different degrees of quality according to the requirements. Moreover, CD replication, unlike CD duplication is done with the permission of the owner and so has no copyright complications.

CD mastering improves the sound quality of music

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Almost everyone enjoys listening to music. Listening to music is not the only important thing, the sound quality also matters. Many times when you listen to a song, you would have noticed that there is some distortion in it. To enhance the overall music listening experience the CD mastering process is carried out. In the CD mastering process, several parameters are checked thoroughly and if there are any mistakes they are rectified.

The following steps are carried out in a CD mastering process:

  • Tonal balance of each song is checked
  • If needed, corrective EQ is applied
  • To meet the commercial standards, overall audio quality is adjusted
  • A consistent level of quality is ensured from song to song
  • Compression and EQ signal processing is adjusted if required
  • Stereo widening is done if requested
  • Songs are arranged in a sequential order
  • Spacing and timings between songs are adjusted
  • Noise like clicks, pops, tape hiss etc. are removed if any
  • The beginning and end of song is cleaned if needed
  • Removal of noise from space between songs

In a CD mastering process, final finishing touches are given to the CD. Apart from this, if there is any background noise, it is removed and also the equaliser is set. CD mastering is the best way to optimise and improve the quality of your final product. Using an accurate CD mastering process your product can be a success.
